Amelia Ferro Sánchez

Amelia Ferro Sánchez obtained her PhD in Physical Activity and Sports Science in 1996 and her Degree in Physical Education in 1988, both from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, UPM). She also has a Degree in Biological Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid (Universidad Complutense de Madrid, UCM), 1984. Since 2012, she has been a Professor for the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports Science (FCCAFyD-INEF) at the UPM. She is a member of the Research Group Sports and Training (Grupo de Investigación Deporte y Entrenamiento), UPM, dedicated to the Sports Biomechanic line of research. Since 1994, she has participated in research projects on biomechanics in sports performance within the National and State R&D Plan (Plan Nacional y Estatal I+D+i), Council for Sports (Consejo Superior de Deportes, CSD) and Olympic Sports Association Programm (Programa ADO, Asociación Deportes Olímpicos).

She teaches official Master's Degrees and her own programme for different institutions, in fields like Quantitative Research Methodology, Research in Biomechanical Analysis and, among others, Women Specific Biomechanics. She holds a Biolasersport® patent (2010) and a utility model for a watertight box with a mini-camera (2004). She won an award for Sportbiolab® in the Business Idea category in the XIV ActúaUPM Competition (CAIT-UPM). Furthermore, she was a scientific and technical manager of research projects in the sports science area of the Spanish National R&D Plan (2008-2012). She is currently the Vice-Dean of Research, Innovation and Doctoral Studies at the FCCAFyD-INEF of the UPM.
